Role Summary 

The Director of Engineering & Technology is a senior leadership role responsible for driving engineering strategy, delivery excellence, and technical innovation across Artic Consulting’s clients. 

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong people's leadership, operational rigor, and client-facing consulting capabilities. The Director will lead multiple engineering teams, ensure technology readiness, deliver high-quality solutions (primarily on Microsoft Azure), and act as a trusted technology advisor for clients and internal stakeholders. 

Required Skill Set for this Role: 

• Establish and nurture a consulting work environment that leverages strong business acumen to consistently achieve client success. 

• Lead the development and growth of high-performing, scalable engineering teams, expanding from 20 to 150 engineers within three years. 

• Oversee the successful delivery of Azure-based consulting projects, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. 

• Champion the adoption of AI/GenAI and modern cloud-native architectures to maintain Microsoft Partnership status and drive technological advancement. 

• Enhance operational efficiency by implementing cost optimization strategies and reducing incident rates across engineering operations. 

• Implement and promote best practices, including regular knowledge-sharing sessions, continuous feedback loops, and collaborative problem-solving, to drive individual and project success. 

• Foster a client-focused consulting culture dedicated to delivering Azure-based solutions that achieve strong client outcomes, high satisfaction, and 95% adherence to budget. 

• Drive improvements in operational efficiency, cost management, and incident reduction through innovative process enhancements. 

• Collaborate with the Business Development team to design and estimate solutions during the presales process, particularly for opportunities based in the United States. 

Key Responsibilities 

Engineering Strategy & Architecture 

• Define and execute the engineering and technology roadmap aligned with Artic Consulting’s business goals 

• Establish architecture standards, best practices, and governance for scalable, secure solutions 

• Lead cloud-first and Azure-focused engineering initiatives 

Delivery Excellence & Client Engagement 

• Own delivery quality across projects, ensuring timelines, reliability, and performance 

• Conduct delivery reviews, customer wellness checks, and escalation management 

• Partner with sales and consulting teams on solution design, pre-sales, and technical strategy 

Team Readiness & Talent Development 

• Hire, mentor, and lead senior engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads 

• Drive skills-gap analysis, training programs, and technical readiness initiatives 

• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement 

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence 

• Improve delivery processes, compliance, and operational workflows 

• Reduce production incidents through strong RCA, preventive actions, and automation 

• Optimize infrastructure cost, developer productivity, and system performance 

Innovation & Emerging Technologies 

• Lead adoption of AI/GenAI solutions across client projects and internal platforms 

• Promote modern architectures including microservices, distributed systems, and data platforms 

• Identify new technologies that support consulting growth and competitive advantage 

Mandatory Required Skills & Competencies 

Technical Expertise 

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms, DevOps, and cloud-native services 

• Deep understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency 

• Experience with microservices, messaging systems (Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ), and modern databases 

• Knowledge of Data Lakehouse architectures and AI-driven product development 

Leadership & Business Acumen 

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams and managers at scale 

• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills 

• Ability to align technical execution with business growth and consulting outcomes 

Consulting & Client-Facing Skills 

• Experience working directly with enterprise clients in delivery and advisory roles 

• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value 

• Strong collaboration across global and cross-functional teams 

Experience & Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in engineering, or related field 

• 14+ years of experience in building and scaling enterprise software platforms 

• 5–6+ years in senior engineering leadership roles 

• Proven experience managing large engineering organizations (20–40+ engineers) 

• Track record of delivering cloud-based, large-scale systems in production environments 

• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar delivery tracking tools 

• Exposure to partner enablement and technical readiness programs 

• Certifications in Azure, cloud architecture, DevOps, or AI technologies 

• Experience driving operational metrics (uptime, MTTR, deployment efficiency)
